“He is a British citizen, why do we not hear about that?” – Disgruntled Brit raises alarm about Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the UK Parliament

By Kalu Onyemaechi

A yet-to-be identified Briton has expressed his dissatisfaction over the silence and inaction of the British government since the controversial arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the alleged marginalisation of the Igbo nation.

In a current video shared on Facebook, the vocal white man alleged that the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is simply after money and power, and therefore does not care about people being oppressed and killed in the South Eastern region of Nigeria.

Particularly, he wanted to know the reason why the embattled IPOB leader is in captive without any efforts by the UK government to get him released, even though he is clearly a British citizen.

The detained leader of the separatist group has been residing in the UK after he jumped bail in 2017 during which there was a military invasion of his ancestral home in Umuahia, Abia state.

“You don’t give a damn about innocent people killed every single day and you have one person who tries to free his people, he was held in detention illegally, he is a British citizen. Why do we not hear about that? I thought we cared about these people. You don’t give a damn, you don’t give a damn because money is everything; money and power is everything. Free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, that should be your priority, free your citizen because you are doing at all. We have had enough of this. All hail Biafra!”, the Briton said as the protesters behind him wielded their Biafran flags.

Kanu who pleaded not guilty at his trial on Thursday at the Federal High Court, Abuja has had his trial adjourned by the court till November 10.
