Roberto Calenda, one of the members that negotiated Victor Osimhen’s deal to Napoli said a good number of clubs including Barcelona wanted to sign the Nigerian striker.
He said Barcelona especially, were keenly interested in bringing him to the club as a replacement for Luis Suarez who has been linked with a move away from the Catalan club.
However, he said the negotiation of Victor Osimhen’s deal was kept away from the mainstream media and the negotiations started from a distance.
He said this during an interview with Radio Marte quoted by Tuttomercatoweb,
He said;
“I usually never talk about these things, out of respect for professionalism and the club. It is right that Napoli says things as they went, they are the main players.
“I can say that it was a well-conducted negotiation by the parties started from a distance. The signing took place outside the giant eye of communication and we were good at keeping track of it.
“Difficult operation, Tottenham and Liverpool wanted Osimhen until the last; even Barcelona initially wanted him in place of Suarez. Napoli, however, did everything they wanted it and took it.”
