How I was kicked out of a Lagos restaurant because I didn’t have a man by side – CNN Journalist, Nana-Aisha recounts!
One of the key demands of female feminists is the need for women to be treated not just equally with men but with dignity and honour.
Nana-Aisha, a journalist and producer with CNN Africa narrated how she wasn’t allowed to eat in a restaurant in GRA area of Ikeja because she didn’t have a man by her side.
She said she had to go to another restaurant to eat alongside her friend that day.
Nana-Aisha shared her experience via her verified Twitter page recently.
I got kicked out of Harzoyka restaurant in GRA Ikeja today because according to them, they have a new policy – no women allowed. This is a restaurant I’ve visited multiple times in the past few years.
When I pressed about why I was been hushed out, I was told that to eat in there I had to be chaperoned by a man. I was too stunned to comment, I cannot have a meal because I’m a woman? @MsAdeola and I had to eat somewhere else.
It’s bad enough that my existence as a woman in the world is threatened every day. Now I have to add eating a meal at a restaurant with a friend to the list. Insane
