Gernot Rohr’s contract issues with the Nigeria Football Federation has refused to leave the headlines with lesß than two months to the expiration of his current deal.
President of Nigeria’s Football Federation: Amaju Melvin Pinnick had earlier stated the conditions for his (Gernot Rohr) contract renewal last week but apparently they hasn’t been a break through yet.
While speaking to Channels Television, Mr Pinnick cleared the air on the perceived rift between him and the Super Eagles coach. He said:
“I don’t have issues with Rohr. We’ve had a wonderful relationship. The (contract) process is ongoing. He’s done a lot. But without our support he won’t have been able to achieve one-tenth… Whatever we’re doing is for the best interest of the country.”
Reports has it that the football federation is already shopping for a new coach as Gernot Rohr’s contract issues lingers. Since his appointment in 2016, he has recorded 59% win rate for the Super Eagles and has qualified them for all major tournaments since then.
