Super Eagles winger Nathan Tella says he has no intention to leave reigning German Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen anytime soon.
The former Arsenal academy graduate added that he is very happy at the club and has settled well since arriving at the club from Burnley in 2023.
Tella told popular German sports news platform BILD on Wednesday about his intention to stay at the club for a long time, citing that he has no reason to leave.
I really like it here. When I came here, I didn’t know much about the club or German football. But even in the first two weeks, I truly understood what it means to play for and represent this club. I have no reason to leave, I’m more than happy here. I want to stay.
Nathan Tella was quite instrumental to Leverkusen’s historic Bundesliga triumph last season alongside his Super Eagles teammate, Victor Boniface.
On Bayer Leverkusen’s chances of retaining the championship, Tella believes the six-point gap between them and league leaders Bayern Munich is small and can be erased in a short time.
He also added that Bayer Leverkusen are focused on winning the remainder of their league matches and see what happens at the end of the season.
A six-point gap isn’t much in football, It’s up to us; we want to win as many games as possible and get to the top.
Nathan Tella is preparing to return to action this weekend after experiencing dizziness in the goalless draw at home to Union Berlin. Tella says he is ready to play after a medical examination but admits that his decision is not.
If it were up to me, I’d always play. But that’s something the coach and the medical department have to decide.
Bayer Leverkusen traveled to St. Pauli on Saturday as they looked to close the gap on Bayern Munich, which was also away at Heidenheim after crashing out of the Champions League on Wednesday night.
