Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr has assured fans that the partnership between Victor Osimhen and Odion Ighalo in the team’s attack will get better as time goes on.
The duo played for the first time together in the 1-1 draw against Cape Verde at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Tuesday as Super Eagles secured qualification for the 2022 World Cup playoffs.
Fans expressed their concerns over the sustainability of the combination of Ighalo and Osimhen but Rohr is optimistic.
“Osimhen will grow and learn a lot by the side of Ighalo,” Rohr said after the game.
“You need a little patience and time with Ighalo, he has not been with us for more than a year.“
“I am sure for the AFCON we can prepare with these two players a more harmonious strike force. They were not bad together already, the chances we got came with the help of Ighalo.
“Let’s give them time to work together and the goals will come again.”
