Ikorodu City Beat Shooting Stars In Frenetic Southwest Derby At Onikan

Ikorodu City recorded a win over Shooting Stars in the first installment of the southwest derby between both clubs on Sunday.

The “Oga Boys” have been on a resurgence in their last few matches after a shaky start to their debut season in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The newcomers came from a goal down to secure maximum points against the “Oluyole Warriors” on Sunday evening at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan.

Anthony Okachi gave the visitors the lead on the 15th minute to register his first goal of the season.

Ikorodu City, in response pilled up the pressure on Gbenga Ogunbote’s men and were unlucky not to restore parity before half time.

The home side continued their onslaught on the defense of Shooting Stars as Mustapha Lawal was forced to make a save from Toyeeb Ajeyigbe’s long range shot.

However, the visitors couldn’t sustain the pressure for long as Adelani Shola equalized via a header on the 58th minute.
