He previously spent three seasons as a small forward for the Spurs. He also played for the Nigerian basketball team, helping them win bronze medals at the FIBA Africa Championships in Algeria and Madagascar in 2005 and 2011, respectively.
In 2006, he received the ‘Jason Collier Sportsmanship Award’ as a player. In his current role as an assistant coach, he assisted the Spurs in their 4-1 victory over the Miami Heat in the 2014 NBA Finals.

Ime Udoka Suspension
The Boston Celtics suspended Udoka for the entire 2022-23 season on September 22 for violating team policies regarding an inappropriate intimate relationship with a female Celtics staff member. Though the organization initially believed the relationship was consensual, the woman later accused Udoka of making unwanted comments to her. Following the suspension, Udoka issued an apology.
He chose not to resign as a result of the violation, though Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Udoka’s future with the organization is not guaranteed after the 2022-23 season. Joe Mazzulla, his assistant coach, took over as interim head coach.
