Former FC Barcelona player and current coach of Al Sadd of Qatar, Xavi Hernandez has tested positive for COVID-19 after being asymptomatic.
Xavi, who spoke via the official twitter handle of the club said;
“Today I wonβt be able to join my team on their comeback to the official competition. David Prats will be there on my behalf as head of the technical staff – coach to the @alsaddscreserves.”
“A few days ago, following the @qsl protocol, I tested positive in the last COVID19 test. Fortunately, Iβm feeling ok, but I will be isolated until I am given the all clear. When the health services allow it, I will be very eager to return to my daily routine and to work.”
“Iβd like to thank all the authorities, especially those working in @qsl, @qfa and @alsaddsc for supplying the means of early detection, reducing the spread of infection and that guarantees the normal development of the competition.

Since he assumed duties as the coach of the Doha-based club last May, Xavi has won two trophies for the club; Qatar Super Cup in 2019 and the Qatar Cup this year.
He also won the Qatar Stars League in 2018-19 season, Emir of Qatar’s Cup and Qatar Cup in 2017 and Qatar Super Cup 2017 as a player of the club between 2015-2019.
