Luis Suarez strike for Barcelona sends city rivals Espanyol to relegation after 27 years in La Liga (video)

Barcelona beat Espanyol 1-0 in a Spanish La Liga encounter played at the Camp Nou on Wednesday, July 9th.

The first half ended goalless with Espanyol defending heavily against a persistent Barcelona side.

The turning point in the game was in the 53rd minute when youngster Ansu Fati was sent off.

Fati came on at the halftime break for Nelson Semedo and just four minutes later was given a straight red card.

However, the numerical advantage for Espanyol did not last long as Pol Lozano was also given a straight red card by center referee Jose Munuera.

Luis Suarez scored in the 56th minute to give Barcelona the lead which they maintained till the 90th minute for all three points.

The win means that Barcelona closed the gap against league leaders Real Madrid while Espanyol are relegated after 27-years in the Spanish top flight.
