Maduka Okoye Pulls Out Of Super Eagles Camp, Obasogie In!

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye has pulled out of Super Eagles ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe. This was made known via the official X page of the team on Monday and no official reason was given for his withdrawal.

Bendel Insurance goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie has now been called up to replace the Udinese goalkeeper and he is expected to join the squad in Uyo immediately.

Obasogie has been vey impressive for Bendel Insurance in the Nigeria Premier Football League with six clean sheets in seven league appearances – the most in the league.

He also had brilliant performances in the CAF Confederations Cup before Bendel Insurance crashed out of the competition. Obasogie saved two penalties against Aso Chlef of Algeria in the second leg of the preliminary round of the competition.

Amas Obasogie will compete against Enyimba’s Ojo Olorunleke and Omonia’s Francis Uzoho for a place in the Super Eagles starting eleven as they take on Lesotho and Zimbabwe on Thursday and Sunday respectively.

The Super Eagles will also be without Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Osimhen who are nursing injuries at this point.
