Man City vs Arsenal: Five things to know as the ex-Apprentice returns to his Master’s slaughter ground!

After over three months of lull in Premier League football due to COVID-19, Man City welcomes Arsenal in what should be a  blockbuster match up as the league returns.

Mikel Arteta returns to the Etihad but this time not as Pep Guardiola’s assistant manager but as a formidable opposition.

Arsenal has suffered lots of misfortunes against Man City in recent times with their last meeting ending in a 3-1 loss but the Gunners go to the Etihad with a renewed spirit having not lost this year.

Here are some things to note as Mikel Arteta, the ex-apprentice returns to his master’s slaughtering ground:

  • This will be the 197th meeting between the two sides with Arsenal with Arsenal having 96 wins while Man City have 56.
  • Arsenal are yet to win against Manchester City since the FA Cup semi-finals triumph in 2017.

  • Man City have won their six matches against the Gunners in all competitions scoring sixteen goals conceding just two goals
  • Pep Guardiola is yet to lose a home game against Arsenal with six wins out of seven.
  • Arsenal are yet to lose a game in 2020 with four wins and four drawn games.
  • Sergio Aguero has scored 10 times in 12 appearances against Arsenal while Alexander Lacazette is yet to score in 13 away Premier League matches.
  • The Gunners’ last five away matches have ended in a stalemate.

Man City are no doubt favourites going into this match given their recent record against the Gunners but with both sides resuming Premier League football after three months, the pendulum might just swing either ways.
