Manchester City 2 year Ban lifted by CAS after an appeal
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has lifted the two-year ban imposed on Manchester City by the European football governing body UEFA.
UEFA stated in February that Manchester City would be banned from participating in the next two editions of the Champions League due to serious breaches of club licensing and financial fair play regulations.
Manchester City took the case to CAS after the hearing a favourable judgment has been delivered on Monday, July 13th.
The decision by CAS means that Manchester City will now participate in the next seasons’ Champions League after victory over Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
Manchester City also had their fine reduced to 10 million Euros and released a statement that said,”Whilst Manchester City and its legal advisors are yet to review the full ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the Club welcomes the implications of today’s ruling as a validation of the Club’s position and the body of evidence that it was able to present. The Club wishes to thank the panel members for their diligence and the due process that they administered.”
