Career
Tobias enlisted as a freshman in the University of California, Santa Barbara ROTC in 1995. She was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant after graduating from the ROTC in June 1999.
According to Tobias, she served in South Korea from 2000 to 2001. She then transferred to Fort Hood, where she remained until 2008.
She served in the Texas Army National Guard from 2009 to 2015, then the Massachusetts Army National Guard from 2016 to 2020.
Tobias served in Iraq twice, first on active duty with the 1st Cavalry Division from 2004 to 2005 and then with the 36th Infantry Division of the Texas Army National Guard from 2010 to 2011.
One of Tobias’ most memorable experiences was participating in disaster relief and rescue efforts during Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
She described landing on overpasses, streets, stadiums, and roofs to help others stuck by rising waters.
