The Super Eagles of Nigeria were held to goalless draw by Rwanda in the second match of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Austin Eguavoen’s men were the better side by more than a mile as they dominated the match from start to finish.
However, a plethora of missed opportunities and a referee error denied the Super Eagles three points at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Tuesday afternoon.
Ademola Lookman had the first big opportunity in the match but his effort towards goal was saved by Fiacre Ntwari who made himself big.
Victor Boniface was unfortunate not to have scored in the first half as his shot struck the post.
Ademola Lookman thought he had given the Super Eagles the lead but his header from a throw-in was adjudged to be offside by the center referee.
Osimhen’s introduction in the second half added more momentum to the Super Eagles attack line but his headers towards goal were comfortably saved by the Rwanda goalkeeper.
Stanley Nwabali was called into action from a long range strike but the Chippa United goalie parried the ball away out of danger.
The match ended goalless even though the Super Eagles of Nigeria had 10 shots on target from 21 attempts.
The Super Eagles remain top of the group with 4 points after two games. The next two fixtures will be against Libya in October.
