Nigeria have emerged victorious in the 2023 African Under-21 Nations Women’s Volleyball Championship Zone 3 held in Niamey, Niger Republic. In an impressive display, the Nigerian team triumphed over Ghana with a 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-10) victory in the finals on Sunday night, securing the championship title.
The journey to the finals began with a convincing win over local rivals, Ghana, in the first tournament match, with Nigeria securing a 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-8) victory.
They continued their winning streak in the second match against hosts Niger, dominating with a 3-0 (25-4, 25-11, 25-4) triumph. Nigeria maintained their strong performance in the third match, overpowering Benin Republic with a resounding 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-9) win, securing their place in the final against Ghana once again.
Following the championship victory, coach Rakiya Mohammed expressed gratitude to God for the team’s success. The Nigerian team showcased exceptional skills, determination, and teamwork throughout the tournament, demonstrating their prowess in the sport.
