The Kasuwan Nama Upper Area Court in Jos has sentenced a 22-year-old footballer, Chimezie Friday, to two years’ imprisonment for conspiracy, trespass and stealing.

Police prosecutor Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported on September 24 at the Laranto police station by a complainant, Christopher Daniel.

Gokwat disclosed that the convict conspired with an individual identified as Joseph and stole car spare parts worth ₦225,000 from the complainant’s garage.

A panel of two magistrates, Ghazali Adam and Hyacinth Dolnaan, who sentenced Friday after he pleaded guilty to the crime, gave him an option of an ₦80,000 fine.

The magistrates explained that the judgment would serve as a deterrent to others.
