Nigerian players in England: Adarabioyo on target, Ndidi, Ajayi impressive
On Saturday, June 20th, 2020 Nigerian players were in action for the first weekend of football in England since the suspension due to the deadly Coronavirus outbreak.
Premier League
Super Eagles duo Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho were both in action for Leicester City as they played out a 1-1 draw away at Watford.
Nigerian midfield enforcer Ndidi was in action for all 90 minutes while his compatriot Iheanacho replaced Marc Albrighton in the 93rd minute
Nigerian striker Success Isaac was not named on the substitute bench for Watford.
Also in the Premier League English youth international of Nigerian descent, Bukayo Saka was in action for Arsenal in their 1-2 away loss at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Saka created the only goal scored by the Gunners for Nicolas Pepe in the 68th minute.
Championship
In the English Championship, Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi was in action for all 90 minutes as West Bromwich Albion played out a 0-0 draw at home against Birmingham City.
Eberechi Eze and Bright Osayi-Samuel were in action for 90 minutes as Queens Park Rangers lost 0 – 1 at home against Barnsley.
Ovie Ejaria was in action for 83 minutes as Reading played out a 1 – 1 draw at home with Stoke City.
Tosin Adarabioyo scored the second goal as Blackburn Rovers recorded a 3 – 1 home win against Bristol City.
