“No sleep for the Wicked” – Rapper, CDQ says after regaining freedom from NDLEA

Nigerian rapper Sodiq Abubakar Yusuf, popularly known as CDQ, has voiced out following his recent arrest by the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

The rapper took to his Twitter page on Thursday, April 15, 2021, where he implied that the charges by the agency were based on false accusations.

My mum just said Mio lean shugbon mo ni Olohun. eleshe nimi o shugbon Mio ba t’eda JE RI. fi gbogbo ija e le fun Olohun whoever is behind all these false accusations it shall boomerang on them and their family… They can’t spoil d name I built with sweat n blood. Yeh Yeh,” he tweeted.

CDQ was arrested on Wednesday night, April 14, 2021, when men of the NDLEA visited his Lekki residence following an intelligence report made available to the agency. The rapper was later granted bail but the agency maintained that the rapper was still under investigation.

NDLEA’s Director, Media, and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, who confirmed the development to Punch said some substance is known as ‘loud’ ― a cannabis variant ― was found in the CQD’s house.

Babafemi said, “Yes, CDQ was arrested in his house at Lekki for having cannabis. He was arrested based on intelligence. As of last night, he was granted administrative bail, but he is expected back into custody today because it is an ongoing investigation.

“Some substances were found and he mentioned some names of some other big artists. So, it is an ongoing investigation.

“The outcome of the investigation would determine what would happen. There are cases whereby the investigation shows some sufficient infractions, and then the case will go to court. There are other cases whereby if the quantity is insignificant, we will bring him in for counseling and possible rehabilitation. Those are likely scenarios that will happen.”

Following his release, CDQ wrote on his Twitter page: “No sleep for the wicked. Iyalaya yin o ni sun for dis Lagos (Your forebears won’t sleep in this Lagos)… They tryna set me up today but Olohun way.”
