Former Super Eagles goalkeeper and former Enyimba FC goalkeeping coach Ike Shorunmu says that any team can win the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and there are no clear favourites at the moment.
Enyimba FC won the league for a record ninth time last season and they will be keen to add another NPFL trophy to their bulging cabinet.
Other teams in the division will be trying to wrestle the coveted title from the People’s Elephants as they contest for the crown.
In an exclusive interview with completesports.com Shorunmu said all the teams are doing their best.
“The league is still open,” Shorunmu said.
“You can’t say this is the team that is going to win now. You can’t mention the team that is going to win now we need to wait towards the end of the season. You can see the way the league is going on now.
“So the league is still open any team can come from nowhere and spring a surprise to win the league. Every team is doing their best.”
Remo Stars are currently top of the NPFL table with 22 points from 11 matches in the division.
Doma United are second place with 21 points after the same number of matches.
Sikiru Alimi of Remo Stars and Robert Mizo of Bayelsa United are the current top scorers this Npfl campaign with nine goals each.
