Obafemi Martins to replace Odion Ighalo at Shanghai Shenhua
According to reports, former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo is set to leave the Chinese Super League (CSL) outfit Shanghai Shenhua for Premier League giants Manchester United after impressing on a loan spell.
Ighalo has four goals for the Red Devils and they want him to stay permanently.
Shanghai Shenhua wants to replace Ighalo with another former Super Eagles star Obafemi Martins.
While Ighalo is 30 years-old Martins is 35-years-old who has been inactive.
Ighalo was the one who replaced Martins back in 2018 when he signed for Shanghai Shenhua.
Speaking about Martins, Ighalo said, “Martins is my idol. I respect him very much. He has achieved great success in his career.
”When I knew that I had the opportunity to come to Shenhua, I sent a message to Martins, who told me that Shenhua is a very good club, Shenhua’s home and fans are very good.”
