Super Eagles defender Ola Aina says he is likely to return to action before the end of the season as he continues to recover from a calf injury he sustained a few weeks ago.

Ola Aina has been on the sidelines since the 1-0 victory over Manchester United on April 1 at the City Ground. The right full-back featured in the match but came off as a half substitute after getting injured.

Nottingham Forest has lost two of their last three Premier League matches in Aina’s absence as they continue their chase for a Champions League spot with five matches left in the season. r

Ola Aina, while speaking in a recent podcast, says he hopes to return to the pitch before the season ends. He reveals that injuries are unavoidable, but one has to be positive in the process of recovery.

“Hopefully, I’ll be fit soon. I’m just taking it day by day to be fair. It’s come along really well. I tore my calf, but it’s not too bad. It’s a grade two tear. Hopefully, God willing, I’ll be back before the end of the season,” the former Chelsea defender said in an interview with Gary Lineker on The Rest is Football Podcast.

“It’s hard watching them play and I can’t add anything to the team. In my case, I just miss training days, but these things happen and you just have to support and be positive.”

The 28-year-old is one of Nuno Espirito Santo’s most prized assets in the team, having started 30 Premier League matches before his injury against the Red Devils.

Nottingham Forest are currently third on the Premier League table with 60 points. The Tricky Trees are in contention to reach the FA final as they take on Manchester City in the semi-final this Sunday
