Super Falcons quartet of Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie, and Uchenna Kanu have been CAF Women’s Player of the Year nominations
All four players are among 30 nominees, including six South Africans, three Moroccans, three Ghanaians, four Cameroonians, two Zambians, two Zimbabweans, two Tunisians, two Botswanans, one Burundian, and one Togolese.
Nigerians are currently competing in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where the Super Falcons were defeated 2-1 by South Africa.
Oshoala, who will compete for her fifth Player of the Year award, has been ruled out of the WAFCON, putting her prospects of winning her fifth honor in jeopardy.
The forward suffered a medial ligament damage during the game, ensuring she would miss the competition.
Oshoala, the FC Barcelona Femini striker, has been transported back to her club in Barcelona, where she will be subjected to more testing.
The CAF Awards will be held on July 21st.
