Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has stretched his lead at the top of the Serie A goalscorers’ chart after scoring a brace in Napoli’s clash with Bologna.
The Luciano Spalletti led side played out a 2-2 draw with Bologna on Sunday, May 28 at the Renato Dall’Ara.
Osimhen scored the first goal of the game in the 14th minute following a misplaced pass by the opposition goalkeeper. He put a second goal past the goalkeeper in the 54th minute. However, Lewis Ferguson pulled one back for Bologna eight minutes later and Lorenzo De Silvestri equalised in the 84th minute.
Osimhen has scored 25 goals and recorded four assists in 31 Serie A games this term, which is four goals ahead of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez who has 21 goals and six assists. The Super Eagles striker now joins Erling Haaland, Kylian MbappĂ©, Harry Kane, Alexandre Lacazette as the fifth player to have scored 25+ league goals this season in Europe’s top five leagues.
Osimhen has racked up 30 goals and four assists in 38 matches across all competitions for Napoli this season.
Napoli won the Serie A title for the third time this season following their previous triumphs in 1986/87 and 1989/90.
