Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored two goals in Napoli’s Serie A win over Torino.
The Luciano Spalletti led side defeated Torino 4-0 on Sunday, March 19 at the Olimpico di Torino.
Osimhen grabbed a brace in the game to consolidate his lead atop the top scorers chart, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored from the penalty spot and Tanguy Ndombele scored another goal for the Partenopei.
Osimhen has now equalled the record of African football legend Samuel Eto’o for most Serie A goals scored in a single season by an African player (21).
Eto’o set the record during the 2010/2011 Serie A season while playing for Inter Milan.
Super Eagles forward Simy Nwankwo was close to equalling the record twice after he scored 20 Serie A goals for Crotone in consecutive seasons (2019/2020 and 2020/2021).
Osimhen has a total of 21 goals and four assists in 23 Serie A matches this campaign.
Napoli sit in first position in the Serie A table with a sum of 71 points from 27 games.
They play AC Milan next in a Serie A encounter in Sunday, March 2 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
