Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly told Napoli to insert a sum of €120m (N105.8b in Nigerian currency) in his new contract.
The Nigerian striker scored 26 league goals for Napoli last season as he helped the club win its first Serie A title in 33 years.
According to Napoli President, Aurelio De Laurentiis, the club does not have any intention of selling the Nigerian striker except if a substantial offer comes in for him.
With Osimhen’s new contract talks progressing between him, his agent Roberto Calenda and Aurelio De Laurentiis, his release clause and new salary demand are yet to be agreed upon.
Osimhen is reported to want a €10m per year salary while Napoli is offering €7m per year which is a €2.5m increase on his current wages.
Napoli is looking to insert a €200m release clause in his contract – a fee that is very likely to discourage potential suitors from bidding for him.
Osimhen hasn’t hidden his dream of playing in the Premier League even though he wants to stay at Napoli ahead of the new season.
However, the Super Eagles striker wants a release clause of €120m which can be met by clubs interested in signing the 25-year-old striker.
Napoli signed Victor Osimhen from Lille in the 2020-2021 season for €70m and will look to not sell him for cheap should he reject the club’s current offer with two years left on his contract.
