Victor Osimhen scored one of Napoli’s most important goals yet as the Naples-based club secured the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years. The last time Napoli won the Serie A title was in 1990.
The Luciano Spalletti-led side played out a 1-1 draw with Udinese on Thursday, May 4, at the Friuli Stadium, which was just enough for them to become the new champions.
Sandi Lovric scored the game’s first goal for Udinese in the 13th minute, and Osimhen equalised for Napoli in the second half.
Osimhen tops the Serie A scorers chart with 22 goals and four assists in 27 games.
Napoli are first on the Serie A table with 80 points from 33 matches.
This is Napoli’s third Serie A title after winning the trophy in the 1986/87 and 1989/90 editions.
Next for the Naples-based club is a game with Fiorentina on Sunday, May 7, at the Stade Diego Armando Maradona.
