The odds were definitely not in his favour, in fact it was a 15/1 odds for him to knock out. Anthony Joshua came in as the overwhelming favourites having defeated the likes of Vlamdmir Klitschko, Carlos Takam and Joseph Parker en route to the fight.

However, the unimaginable happened, after both boxers sized in each up in the first two rounds, some exchanges in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth rounds, with Joshua taking a deep cut in the third, Andy Ruiz jr shocked the world by knocking out Joshua in technical knockout in round seven.

He became the first Mexican World Heavyweight Champion and the surprising result was compared to that Mike Tyson vs Buster Douglas in 1990 and Lennox Lewis vs Hashim Rashman in 2001.
Anthony Joshua has since reclaimed his titles in a rematch in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia via a unanimous decision victory.
