Paul Onuachu Leads Golden Boot Race As Osimhen Plays Catch-up

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu is showing no sign of weakness in front of goal as he registered his goal in the league on Saturday night.

Onuachu came into the match in great form, having scored in his last four matches for Trabzonspor since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations last month.

The 31-year-old striker found the back of the net for the fifth consecutive match as he powered a header into the top corner before halftime.

Onuachu got to the end of a brilliant cross from Norwegian defender Mathias Lovik with a header into the roof of the net to draw the home side level before the break.

Unfortunately, his 16th goal of the season in the Turkish Super League wasn’t enough to secure a point for the host as the visitors sealed a narrow 3-2 win.

Marco Asencio’s 48th-minute goal made the difference on the night as FeFenerbahçe stayed within three points of usurping league leaders and defending champions Galatasaray, Who lead the league with 55 points.

Meanwhile, Paul Onuachu leads the goal scorers with 16 goals with his national team compatriot, Victor Osimhen in seventh place with 9 goals.

Osimhen bagged the Golden Boot award last season with 26 goals but the 27-year-old who scored his ninth on Friday night, is currently lagging behind.
