In the star game of the day, Premier League giants Manchester City hosted reigning Spanish La Liga champions Real Madrid in a round of 16-second leg clash.
Pep Guardiola’s team held a 2-1 away win over Real Madrid from the first leg.
It was Manchester City who will strike first in the second leg as Gabriel Jesus pounced on a mistake by Raphael Varane to assist Raheem Sterling in the ninth minute.
Real Madrid would pull one back in the 28th minute when Rodrygo’s cross was headed in by Karim Benzema as both sides went to the halftime break level.
Manchester City would then go ahead in the 68th minute when Gabriel Jesus pounced on another mistake by Varane to convert.
Guardiola’s side would hold on for the win and advance to the quarterfinals of the competition.
