Remo Stars continued their unbeaten run in the Nigeria Premier Football League on matchday 4 as they defeated defending champions Enugu Rangers in a keenly contested showdown.
It was a meeting between the two current assistant coaches of the Super Eagles: Daniel Ogunmodede (Remo Stars) and Fidelis Ilechuwku (Enugu Rangers).
The much anticipated showdown between the Sky Blue Stars and the Flying Antelopes lived up to expectations with brilliant display from two of the finest coaches in the league.
The first half was quite cagey as both sides attempted to outclass each other. The first 45 minutes produced just a shot on target which fell to the home side.
However, the second half came alive and it was the home aide who took the lead on the 50th minute courtesy of 19-year-old midfielder Alex Oyowah.
The midfielder’s shot passed underneath Lucky Abdullahi’s arm into the net after was played through on goal from a sublime pass from the midfield.
Remo Stars lead only lasted for 4 minutes as Agu Kenechukwu equalizesld for the visitors from the penalty spot.
Tochuwku Michael restored the lead for the home side after 4 minutes from a ferocious left-footed strike which landed in the top-left corner.
Daniel Ogunmodede’s side controlled the game after taking the lead and held on to the blast of the final whistle.
The Sky Blue Stars lead the NPFL log with 12 points from 4 games. The Flying Antelopes on the other hand have 4 points from 3 matches.
