Remo Stars Football Club of Ikenne once gain showed they are the kings of the Southwest derby in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

In a battle of stars, the Ikenne-based team outshined their counterpart by far as they dispatched Shooting Stars by three unreplied goals.

Remo Stars started the match the better side and the home side made their intentions known early in the game.

After a missed chance in the 11th minute, Ahmed Akinyele scored from a sublime cross from Sodiq Ismail in the 20th minute.

Remo Stars dominated the match as they kept the away side chasing the ball and te second goal came in the 40th minute.

Alimi Sikiru could have scored his goal in the 50th minute but he directed his header straight at Shooting Stars goalie.

Bankole Kayode was called into action moments later on the other end as he stopped the away side from gwtting back into the game.

Alimin Sikiru eventually got hos brace in the 63rd mimute and the lanky striker finished calmly from a deft back heel touch from Sodiq Ismail.

The match ended 3 nil as Remo Stars returns to the summit of the league with 12 points after five games.

In other results, Akwa United hot their first win of the season with a narrow victory over Gombe United at the Eket Stadium. Fatai Osho’s men won 1 nil courtesy of Kufre Ebong’s 35th minute strike.

Enyimba’s miserable start to the 2023/2024 season continues as the defending champions match away at Niger Tornadoes ended in a stalemate.

The Aba Elephants came into the match on the back of their African Football League disappointing ouster. Enyimba lost 4 nil on aggregate to former CAF Champions League champions Wydad Casablanca.
