Doma United’s reign on top of the Nigeria Premier Football League only lasted for about 24 hours as Remo Stars took all three points against Plateau United to topple Akinade Onigbinde’s side.

Remo Stars welcomed Plateau United at the Ikenne Stadium and edged the former champions by a single goal.

The Sky Blue Stars started the match the better side with a couple of chances but Plateau United’s goalie, Suraj Ayeleso kept the shoreline goaless.

However, the goalkeeper was let down by lme of his defender who committed a blunder which led to the first and only goal of the match.

Sikiru Alimi, who had scored goals in the league so far, took advantage of the defensive error to give the home side the lead.

Plateau United had a chance to restore parity late in the game but failed to convert as the match ended 1 nil.

Remo Stars with 22 points after 11 matches are now leading the log amd closely follwed by Doma United with 21 points.

In other results, Sporting Lagos comtinued their impressive home run with another win as they beat Katsina United 1 nil at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Kano Pillars were the biggest winner in the NPFL this weekend as the former champions thrashed Gombe United 5-2 away from home.

Interestingly, Yusf Abdullahi scored all five goals for Kano Pillars making him the first player to achieve such feat this season.

Israel Abia was the last player to scored 4+ goals in the #NPFL. He acheived the remarkable feat in December 2019 when he scored all four goals for Sunshine Stars in a 4-2 win over Nasarawa United.

Emem Eduok remains the only player to have scored six goals in the NPFL. The striker scored six goals for Dolphins against Nembe City in 2014.
