Ikenne-based club, Remo Stars are still holding on to the top spot of the Nigeria Premier Football League after matchday 13.

The Sky Blue Stars outshined visiting Kwara United as they secured another three point with a comfortable nil victory.

Remo Stars as expected started the game the beter side with a couple of half chances as they tried to unsettle the visitors with an early goal.

The goal eventually came in the 25th minute as Adedayo Olamilekan drilled a low strike from close range home after a beautiful interchange of pases between him and Dayo Ojo in the box.


Segun Ogunribide shot from range xoukd have doubled the lead of the home side six minutes later but Kwara United’s Adewale Adeyinka made a save.

The goal eventually came and it was Samad Kadiri – the goalscorer of the famous win against Enyimba tapped the ball in from close range to make it 2 nil.


Adeyinka once gain saved Kwara United from conceding truck load of goals in the match as he made two saves in quick succession to deny Remo Stars a third.

Kwara United, with little or nothing to show succumbed to a 2 nil loss as Remo Stars returned to the summit of the league with 16 points after 13 games.

In other results, Enyimba’s poor start to the NPFL 2023/2024 season is gradually becoming a thing of the past as they recorded another win. The defending champions beat Abia Warriors 2-1 in the local derby which has now placed them 4th on the log with 22 points after 12 matches played.

Sunhine Stars failed to shine in Benin as Monday Odigie’s Bendel Insurance, the “Benin Arsenal” beat the Akure-based side by a lone goal at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
