Richard Rawlings is an avid transcontinental racer who has participated in several rallies. He once held the world record for the fastest Cannonball Run time until it was broken in 2013. Rawlings traveled 2811 miles from New York to Los Angeles in 31 hours and 59 minutes to break the record, which had stood since 1979. That translates to an average speed of 87.6 MPH. In addition, he has won the Gumball 3000 and The Bullrun an unprecedented two times each.
Before opening his garage, Rawlings worked as a cop, a firefighter, a paramedic, and the owner and operator of Lincoln Press, a printing and advertising company. Rawlings sold Lincoln Press in 2002 to open his Gas Monkey Garage.
The auto shop builds cars for customers all over the world and has become a world-famous hot rod shop. Rawlings and Gas Monkey Garage have been the subject of a Discovery Channel reality show called “Fast N’ Loud” since 2012.
