Rivers United Drown Warriors To Return To NPFL Summit

Rivers United are back on top of the NPFL after a seamless home win over El Kanemi Warriors at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.

Finidi George’s men needed to return to winning after Sunday’s defeat away in Yenagoa to Bayelsa United.

Wisdom Samuel scored in the ninth minute to give the host an early control of the match.

Chijioke Mbaoma doubled the lead in the 71st minute to register his first goal of the season for the Pride of Rivers.

With a few minutes left to play, Wisdom Samuel bagged his brace with a sublime strike to give the host a 3-0 win.

Rivers United are now back on top of the Nigeria Premier Football League table with 49 points – two points above Enugu Rangers, having played two matches less.
