Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Peter Rufai believes that the performance of the Super Eagles against Costa Rica will boost their confidence.
The Super Eagles lost 2-0 to the Los Ticos of Costa Rica on November 10 at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica.
Oscar Duarte scored the first goal of the game for Costa Rica in the seventh minute as the first half ended 1-0.
Kendall Watson scored the second goal of the game in the 73rd minute.
In an interview with completesports.com Rufai praised the home base team’s display against the Los Ticos.
“This is a good performance from the Super Eagles against a Costa Rican side that paraded their best stars for the encounter,” Rufai said.
“I am not really disappointed with the result but will commend players for their brilliant performance in the game.
“This will further improve the confidence of the players and also gives the Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro an insight on players to draft into the main team.”
The team will play Portugal next in another friendly match on November 17 at Estadio Jose Alvalade.
