Even though the first instalment of this season’s Merseyside Derby ended in a stalement, Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi was one of the most outstanding players of the match.
Iwobi, who has enjoyed a lot of playing time under Frank Lampard in a new role, put up another fantastic performance as Liverpool held Everton to a goalless draw at Goddison Park.
Former Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh took to his Twitter page to heap praises on the former Arsenal player.

Alex Iwobi's Performance today especially, & in recent months, has me excited & makes me so proud as a compatriot. Vision, physical, clairvoyance, pace, aggressive & above all,he has found total belief in his capabilities. This is great for 'Naija' & Everton. Bravo Lampard and Alex!! pic.twitter.com/bcziCugjip

Alex Iwobi often looked really promising as a secondary playmaker/facilitator at Arsenal, upping the pace of attacks and weaving things together. Great to see him unlocking those skills in an Everton shirt.

Iwobi himself knows its his last chance to impress in the PL. Good job so far. https://t.co/uSBed6Ulro

Lampard has one midfielder he usually breathes life into wherever he coaches – turns them to monsters. Mason Mount at Derby & Chelsea and now he’s spotted Iwobi ‘s best position, giving him the freedom & confidence to express himself. Has been class for a while now. 👏🏼 #EVELIV

I still insist that had Iwobi been available, no way Super Eagles are not in Qatar. We missed him badly.

Iwobi is playing that central midfield so, so well…

I can’t believe it took prem managers this long to realise Iwobi is a midfielder. They saw he was black in Arsenal academy & said yhh you’re a winger

What a player Iwobi has become by the way! Taking the piss at times
