Super Eagles should be ready for 90 mins war – Benin goalkeeper Allagbe
The Super Eagles should prepare for war when they square up against the Squirrels of Benin Republic in a return leg Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier , AFCON fixtures in Port Novo, Benin Republic on Saturday, according to Benin goaltender Saturnin Allagbe .
Speaking ahead of the game, the France-based goalkeeper believes they can beat the Super Eagles.
He said: “We have our goal. It is to qualify us. Nigeria are the favorites but we are going to push them around as much as possible”.
Super Eagles have not won their last four games in all competition, with two of it coming in their last two AFCON qualifiers, speaking on the Eagles latest form, Allagbe said “Nigeria’s latest results don’t matter. It’s a great team that will want to relaunch like us.”
The three-time AFCON champions, currently top Group L on Eight points while Benin Republic sit second on Seven points.
Super Eagles won the first leg at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, thanks to a second half goal by Samuel Kalu. Sessegnon scored first for the squirrels in the 3rd minute of the game before Victor Osimhen’s penalty cancelled the lead.
The Squirrels of Benin in 2019, became the first team to reach the quarter-finals of AFCON without ever winning a single competitive match in their participation history, and will be hoping to surpass this feat if they qualify for the next AFCON in Cameroon.
