Nigeria’s Minister for Sports and Youths Development, Mr. Sunday Dare has called for the inclusion of more players from the Nigeria Professional Football l League into the mainstream Super Eagles.

Mr. Sunday Dare says the inclusion of the NPFL stars into the main team super Eagles will give a level playing ground for both foreign and home-based players.

The Sports Minister said this when he visited the home-based players at their Abuja camp as they round off preparation for next month friendly against the current Gold Cup champions, Mexico.

“I’m happy that the conversation and the meetings we’ve had in the past several months with the NFF about changing the phase of our football development is beginning to bear fruits.”

“I’m an advocate of a blend of Home-based and foreign-based players to create a level playing field. They are all talented, so we need to  give them an equal chance to compete for the Nigerian jersey.”

“That has been the history and tradition of Nigerian soccer, So the opportunities should be the same. Let them fight for the spots. Whether home or foreign-based, it’s your talent that counts.”

The team will depart United States tonight via Turkish Airline sources say.

The Super Eagles will take on Mexico at the Los Angeles Coliseum on the 4th of July.
