The Nigerian female football team, the Super Falcons defeated the Tricolor of Costa Rica in the 2023 Revelations Cup held in Mexico.
The Super Falcons pipped Costa Rica 1-0 on Wednesday February 22 at the Estadio Leon.
Esther Okonkwo scored the only goal of the game in the 45th minute with a left footed shot.
The Super Falcons had previously lost 1-0 to Colombia and 1-0 to Mexico in the four Nation tournament.
The Super Falcons were ranked in third place at the end of the tournament after garnering three points from three matches.
Mexico won the tournament with five points after three games, Colombia had the same points and goal difference as Mexico but had accumulated more yellow cards in the tournament.
Costa Rica came last with just two points from the same number of games.
The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will take place between July 20 and August 20 in Australia and New Zealand.
The Super Falcons have been placed in Group B alongside Australia, Republic of Ireland and Canada.
