Nigeria senior women’s football team, the Super Falcons lost their test game against Canada as they prepare for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The match was played at the La Quinta Football Centre, Malaga on Wednesday evening behind closed doors.
Canada scored the only goal of the match eighteen minutes after kickoff courtesy of Jordyn Huitema who took advantage of an error in Super Eagles defense.
Jennifer Echegini came lose to equalizing for the Super Falcons but her left-footed effort struck the crossbar.
The match ended 1 nil in favor of the Olympic defending champions as they protected their slim lead to the blast of the final whistle.
The defeat ended Super Falcons 15 match unbeaten run in regular time which stretch back to the 1 nil loss to Colombia in an international friendly in February 2023.
The nine-time African champions will arrive Bordeaux, France on Thursday night ahead of their opening match against Brazil on July 25.
