The UEFA Champions League and Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) have sent birthday greetings to former Super Eagles forward Kanu Nwankwo who turned 46 on Monday, August 1.
The UEFA Champions League and NFF sent their birthday wishes via their Twitter handles.
The UEFA Champions League wrote
“Happy birthday Ajax Legend Nwankwo Kanu,”they Tweeted.
NFF also congratulated Kanu
“Happy birthday to the legendary @papilokanu. We wish you the best today and always,” the Nigerian football governing body remarked.
Kanu joined Ajax from Iwanyawu Nationale in 1993 and went on to win the UEFA Champions League in 1995.
He moved to Serie A side Inter Milan in 1996, winning the 1997/98 UEFA Cup.
He played for Arsenal between 1999 and 2004 where he won two Premier League titles and two Fa Cup titles.
He won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 1993 and the Atlanta 96 Olympic gold medal in soccer.
