German sensation, Alexander Zverev, a tennis star tipped to be one of the best in years to come, has progressed into his maiden Grand Slam final.
Alexander Zverev came from two sets down to defeat Argentine, Pablo Carreno Busta 3-6, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 in an intriguing match at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The last time he came close to reaching a final was at this year’s Australian Open where he crashed out in the semi-finals after he lost to Dominic Thiem 3-6, 6-4, 7(7)-6(3), 7(7)-6(4).
This is the first time Zverev will be coming from two sets down to win a match and he did it in grand style as he fired 71 winners (24 aces) and 57 unforced errors.
The 23-year-old is set to become the first German to win a Grand Slam since Rainer Schuettler’s triumph at the 2003 Australian Open when he takes on Dominic Them who saw off Danil Medvedev in straight sets 6-2, 7(9)-6(7), 7(7)-6(5).
