On this day in 2013, Nnamdi Oduamadi notched a hat-trick as the Super Eagles romped to a 6-1 win over Tahiti at the FIFA Confederations Cup.
It was the first hat-trick to be scored by a Super Eagles player since Obafemi Martins’ treble against Algeria on 4 September 2005.
After the competition in which Nigeria was knocked out after losses to Uruguay and Spain, Oduamadi was not in reckoning with the national team which went on to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
