Video of the day: Finidi, Amokachi hand Super Eagles 2-0 over Greece at US ’94
On this day in 1994, a goal in each half by Finidi George and Daniel Amokachi gave the Super Eagles a deserved 2-0 win over Greece in a one-sided encounter at the Foxboro Stadium at the FIFA World Cup in USA.
In the starting line-up against the Greeks were Peter Rufai, Chidi Nwanu, Stephen Keshi, Uche Okechukwu, Michael Emenalo, Finidi George, Samson Siasia, Sunday Oliseh, Emmanuel Amunike, Rashidi Yekini, and Daniel Amokachi.
Substitutes on the day were Jay-Jay Okocha (for Yekini) and Mutiu Adepoju (for George).
Nigeria went on to top the group with six points from three games and set up a second round fixture against Italy which the former World champions won 2-1.
