Why is the NFF reluctant to give Gernot Rohr a new contract?

Super Eagles’ manager: Gernot Rohr is yet to get a contract renewal from the Amaju Pinnick led Nigeria Football Federation with only three months left on his current contract. The Franco-German tactician has however sounded a note of warning to the NFF stating that he will not beg for a new contract instead the NFF should approach him for contract renewal talks.

In a tweet posted by popular football Journalist: Osasu Obayiuwana, Gernot said: “I will not askwhat is going on with my contract renewal. It’s for the NFF to approach me. I am still waiting, “My job is to focus on the Super Eagles as long as I am the coach of this team. And I am going to do just that. Right now, my concern is that our players in Europe stay physically fit, even when they are not playing, because of the #coronavirus situation. 

The Nigeria Football Federation appointed Gernot Rohr as the coach of the team in August 2016 and offered him a two years contract which was renewed in January 2018 before the FIFA World Cup in Russia. According to reports, the NFF wants Gernot Rohr to either stay in Lagos or Abuja, allow him to go on vacation three times a year among other conditions in his contract.

In addition, Gernot Rohr will no longer earn tax-free wages and his players selected for tournament, friendlies or qualifiers must be sanctioned by the technical committee of the NFF.

Gernot Rohr has 29 wins, 9 losses, 11 draws in 49 games for the Super Eagles since his appointed and he has qualified the Super Eagles for all the major tournaments since then with a game to spare.

So why is the NFF reluctant to give a new contract?
