Why Ronaldo still leads #Euro2020 scorers chart despite being tied on goals with Czech striker! 2

Portugal have since being eliminated from the ongoing #Euro2020 tournament but Cristiano Ronaldo still leads the scorer’s chart with five goals.

The 36-year-old is tied on Czech Republic’s Patrik Shick whose team has also been knocked out of the competition after losing 2-1 to Denmark in the quarter-finals.

With both players tied on goals, Ronaldo will be handed the Golden Boot award considering no other surpasses his tally.

Ronaldo’s assist to Diogo Jota’s goal in the 4-2 loss to Germany gives him the edge over Shick.

England’s duo of Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane and Denmark’s Kasper Dolberg are the only players still in the competition that have the likelihood of surpassing the tally of the Portuguese captain as they are all tied on three goals each.

This is the first time that two players will be tied on five goals since the 2000 edition of the competition when Netherlands Patrick Patrick Kluivert and Serbia’s Savo Milosevic both hit five goals each.

Other players to have scored five goals or more at the European tournament are; Michel Platini (9, 1984), Marco van Basten (5, 1988), Alan Shearer (5, 1996) Milan Baros (5, 2004), and Antoine Griezmann (6, 2016)
