On July 12th, 1998 Zinedine Zidane scored twice to help France beat Brazil 3-0 and win their first World Cup.
It was the final everyone wanted with pitched together the two best teams in the competition.
Zidane put France in front as early as the 27th minute when he converted from a corner kick.
In the 45th minute, Zidane struck again converting from a corner kick to give France a two-goal lead at the halftime break.
Marcel Desailly who was cautioned in the 48th minute received his second yellow card in the 68th minute as France were reduced to 10 men.
Brazil could not find a breakthrough despite the numerical advantage as Emmanuel Petit scored the third goal for France in the 93rd minute to seal the win in front of 80,000 fans in attendance at the Stade de France, Saint-Denis
