7 reasons why Wilfred Ndidi will not leave Leicester City…for now

After another hugely successful season under his belt, the cacophony of voices screaming about Wilfred Ndidi leaving modest Leicester City for a bigger club has gone several decibels higher.

And, to be honest, this is not without merit. Ndidi has the joint highest number of tackles this season in the English Premier League and has topped the number of tackles in the English Premier League for three consecutive seasons.

However, there are many compelling reasons why he may not dump Leicester City, at least for now. Below are seven such reasons why he may not move.

1. He is currently studying Business in De Montford University in Leicester. Ndidi said he wants to use his business degree to help young footballers in Nigeria when he retires from football

2. He still has 4 years on his contract. After impressing on his initial deal, Ndidi signed another contract extension in 2018 which will see him stay with the Foxes until the summer of 2024.

3. He qualified for Europa League. Though he was a part of their Champions League run in 2017, Ndidi now has a realistic chance of winning European laurel with Leicester’s qualification for the Europa League with their fifth place placing.

 

4. He’s playing week in week out and is one of the first names on the team sheet. Immensely popular at the King Power stadium, Ndidi has become the pivot around which the team revolves and Leicester will be hardpressed to let their prized asset leave.

5. He’s enjoying his football. At least for now, Leicester is the perfect place for Ndidi to blossom. He’s enjoying his game, well loved by the fans and still has a long future ahead of him at just 23.

6. He’s already a pillar in the Super Eagles. A future national team captain, Ndidi is usually one of the first names on the roster for Nigeria and is highly valued by coaches and fans.

7. He has a young family and would want them to be settled. Having married his hearthrob and with the arrival of his baby daughter, the Ndidi’s are a young family and a measure of stability will be essential for growth. Luckily, Ndidi has found a home in Leicester and may noy be willing to leave in a hurry.
